Tuition Assistance

The cost of tuition is a legitimate concern for parents seeking a Montessori education for their children. We understand the sacrifices that many of our families make to send their children to TMS, and that is why we strive to provide the best Montessori education for affordable tuition.

The Montessori School offers need-based financial aid to students who have completed one academic year. Tuition assistance amounts are awarded based on a student’s need given the guardian’s financial abilities. The awarding of tuition assistance is an annual process; tuition assistance is not automatically renewed from year to year. A tuition assistance packet must be filed for each year that assistance is requested.

Parents and students who receive tuition assistance are expected to maintain the guidelines laid out in the tuition assistance application packet. The Montessori School requires that the tuition assistance application is completed and turned in on time. If any portion of the application is incomplete or late the application will NOT be considered.

To speak to someone about applying for tuition assistance, please call the Business Office at 423-622-6366.

Tuition Assistance Program

The Montessori School seeks to assure economic diversity in our classrooms and to prevent any child enrolled in the School from having to leave due to a family fiscal crisis.  Application for tuition assistance takes place annually.  The Montessori School seeks to encourage racial, ethnic, religious, and economic diversity.  Preference is given in the distribution of financial assistance to students based on financial need.

Criteria

1. First priority is to continue support for families currently receiving assistance.

2. Second priority is to provide funds that enable families already enrolled in the school to stay with the school in the event of changing personal finances.

3. Third priority is to consider all other requests, including new families.

Tuition Assistance

Dear Prospective Marin Montessori Parents,

Marin Montessori School is committed to offering financial support, within our financial capability, to qualifying families finding it challenging to meet the costs of an MMS education. We are especially interested in fulfilling our mission of “nurturing the development of each child in our diverse community” by offering assistance to families from varied backgrounds. We encourage any family with questions about their ability to afford program fees to inquire about Tuition Assistance by contacting Director of Finance Deborah Snyder at dsnyder@marinmontessori.org . All inquiries will be handled carefully and discreetly.

Funding for the school’s Tuition Assistance program is determined annually by its Board of Trustees, and the allocation of those resources is determined by the Tuition Assistance Committee. All information concerning applications to and deliberations of the Tuition Assistance Committee is confidential and limited to Committee members, and their decisions are final.

The application process for Tuition Assistance at Marin Montessori begins with completion of the online questionnaire posted by SSS ( sss.nais.org ). Application process details are highlighted in the attached flyer, “Applying for Tuition Assistance at Marin Montessori School.” The SSS application website opens on November 1, 2018 for school year 2019-20. Applications for new families must be completed by January 31, 2019. The fee for the non-refundable application fee is about $50.00.

Our business office will be available for questions throughout the application period. Please contact me directly with any questions, concerns or comments regarding the process. I would be happy to hear from you at any time.

Sincerely,

Deborah Snyder
