Principal’s Welcome

Welcome to Ridgeway. It’s a great pleasure, as the Principal of this wonderful school, to introduce you to all it has to offer.

We are committed to inspiring learners for their future through a vibrant, innovative and supportive environment where students develop resourcefulness, resilience, accept responsibility and are challenged to take risks in order to succeed. Maximising individual students’ development and achievement is what everyday is about. Achievement in examinations is high and we offer an extensive range of leadership and extra-curricular opportunity that is second to none. Students develop the skills and confidence to prepare them for life in the 21st century and it is our aim that students leave us with a passion for life-long learning.

Our students are wonderful ambassadors for the school and take pride in continuing to shape and develop further the excellent community to which they belong. This website contains latest events and copies of The Ridgeway News designed to keep students and parents up-to-date with school life and to give others a snapshot of our school. I very much hope that you will want to come and visit us in person.

A Level Results 2018

As ever, I want to thank our wonderful staff who have been instrumental in helping our sixth formers achieve these great results. I’d also like to recognise the parents for their support in achieving these results as R6 is all about partnership working.

A*A grades 23%

A*B grades 45%

A*E grades 96%

Helen Dixon, Assistant Principal Head of Post 16 agreed, “Today is one of the best parts of the job. It’s great to see so many smiling faces on our students who have achieved the grades they needed for their university or future employment.”

We wish all the students the very best. A limited number of R6 places are still available for September 2018. Please come to talk to us on GCSE Results day (23rd August) between 9 and 12 noon, or contact the R6 Leaders on R6Leaders@ridgewayschool.com. For students who are looking to apply to R6 for a place in September 2019, our main Open Evening will be on Thursday 11th October from 6.00pm to 8.00pm

GCSE 2018 results day 23rd August 2018.

Ridgeway School students are celebrating another set of excellent GCSE results this year. The impressive outcomes have been achieved in the context of the new more challenging examinations and reflect the hard work invested by students and staff.

5% of the grades awarded across all subjects were the top grade (9)

82.5% of students achieved grade 4 or above in English

80% of students achieved grade 4 or above in Maths

James Povoas, Principal, said “We are delighted that the hard work of the students and the expertise and relentless, high quality support provided by teachers has achieved these results. The qualifications that the students have gained will enable them to make positive choices about their future studies and employment. We look forward to welcoming the vast majority back to R6, The Ridgeway Sixth Form, in September.”
