NISS Ski School Hanazono is tops for kids

      Review of Hanazono Niseko Resort

      Reviewed March 22, 2016

NISS is excellent for younger kids (Probably older ones too!). My kids, aged 3 and 5, loved their lessons: The area is less frenetic than NBS and GoSnow as a result of the location being further afield, and this suited my 3yo, who was skiing for the first time, perfectly. The learning areas are large as a result of the 3 magic carpets, and the littler ones were brought out by tobogan which was a treat!
The kids were dropped off at the NISS office opposite the Vale in Hirafu daily, and picked up again in the afternoon. Skis were rented from Niseko Sports and left at Hanazono each day. They each also had a passport to show what skills they had been picking up in the day, and the smaller ones had a quiet area behind their dining area where there were toys and such to play with while waiting for lessons to start. There was a lot of positive reinforcement with ‘medals’ being handed out at the end of the week to encourage confidence.
Should you wish, parents can also sit in the warm comfort of Hanazono 308 with their coffees and watch the children on the snow field, which was great for observing without being seen and less distracting for the children. If you wanted an even more high end experience, the dining room of the Restaurant Asperges provides an unblocked view of the learning area, and…

All in all, a great experience that encouraged the love of skiing in our kids. We will be back next year!

AWESOME Powder and great guiding from Hanazono Guides

Spent 2 days skiing the back bowls of Hanazono, had amazing snow, even managed to get it over my head. Weather was windy with many snow showers, but you do not come to Hanazono for the sun or pistes – you come for the deep champagne powder and uncrowded pitches. Most pitches not as steep as Europe but we did manage to find some. The highlight was skiing through the knee deep powder in the silver birch forests – AWESOME

      Hi GlobetrotterPort,
Many thanks for your review ann I can tell that you had an AMAZING time at Hanazono. Our HANAZONO POWDER GUIDES are the ones to ski with if fresh snow is what you are looking for. I’m sure you experienced it for yourself but our guides know the mountain VERY well….!
Please come on over to the London Ski Show later this year if you have time. We’ll be there to promote Niseko and give out new information.

Thanks again for your review and hope to see you back in Niseko again next winter!

Good but not great quite a small area the jumps park is fun but the rest of the mountain is either very steep or very flat. Snow wasnt as good here as it was at annupuri or moiwa too

      Hi aussiegal87,
Many thanks for sharing your review. As many guests has commented about us, we do have some flat sections that’s not much fun. Most of our slopes are facing the North-Eastern side so snow tends to keep better condition compared to those South facing ski resorts, but snow condition varies by day depending on temperature, wind, etc. so I hope you can find that perfect snow condition at Hanazono when you visit us next time.
Thanks again for your feedback and see you again soon!

      Very nice!!

A smaller part of Niseko but still fun. Not so many lifts. Great coffee stand at bottom quad. The restaurants at base are much pricier than other mountain stops.
The slopes are quite wide and good for intermediates. Certainly not as busy.
It is great to get a ticket with half mtn, as in Hanazono and HIrafu. Especially good as you can get a 5 hour ticket which is a good option.
I would not stay at this end of Niseko, very limited, but great to ski to.

      Hi chris G!
Thank you very much for your review on Niseko HANAZONO. The half mountain lift pass, Hirafu/Hanazono lift pass, is a very good option as you have mentioned. With this pass you can ski nearly 70% of all runs in the Niseko mountains. I find it hard for me to ski for more than half a day so the 5 hour ticket is what I would buy for myself!
Not much of accommodation option currently in the Hanazono area but Park Hyatt Hotel will be opening December 2019 at base of Hanazono to add some more action in the area.
Thank you once again for posting your review on TripAdvisor!

      Hello Sha_Lee_Raja!
Thank you very much for your review! Great to hear you enjoyed your time at Niseko HANAZONO 😉
Our groomed runs are wide and less crowded compared to the slopes in Hirafu and I think this make us a great place for beginner skiers to practice their skills. We’ve been getting a lot of blue clear sky now in mid-March. The view of Mt.Yotei is extraordinary!
Do come again and share photos of those great view you saw!
