^  Account Management

  • I can’t log into Canvas! Why not?
    1. You might be trying to log in using the generic Canvas login page, and not the Cabrillo Canvas login page. Try to log in again using the Cabrillo Canvas login page.

    2. If you are not teaching any classes this semester, then an account will not be created for you automatically. However, you can request a development course for any term.
    3. For further assistance, contact the TLC.
  • I don’t see my course on the Dashboard! Where is it?

    You do not need to request a shell. These will be created for you automatically before the semester begins. If you would like to begin developing content earlier, then please contact the TLC to request a development shell.

  • How do I manage files on the user account level?

    We recommend using CloudCovert . This web-based application converts files from one type to another, such as Mac Pages to MS Word.
  • How do I convert a Word document with pictures to page in Canvas? (This might work for other types of documents as well.)

    • As of June 2018, teachers can add other teachers or TAs, but not students

      • New NetTutor User Interface for 2018
      • Refer Tutor Report: Instructor Access
    • What is NetTutor? NetTutor is an online tutoring service provided by Link Systems International (LSI). The Online Education Initiative (OEI) selected LSI as a partner through a comprehensive review of online tutoring vendors and platforms, as part of a competitive bid process managed by the Foundation for California Community Colleges.
    • Online Tutoring is available for students in courses offered in Canvas. The Online Tutoring Handbook (external PDF) provides faculty various template instructions to copy/paste into their course and course syllabus.
  • Proctorio –
    Provide proctored exams/quizzes that allows you, as the instructor to set up parameters when giving tests or quizzes in an online environment (including, preventing students from opening new browser windows while taking the quiz). This application requires Google Chrome.

  • Quest
    Faculty can provide students a readiness module for online learning now. The Quest  assessment helps students identify their strengths and weaknesses—and the obstacles they will need to overcome as an online learner. For example, how to get tech ready, time management, communication skills, and what online learning is like.
  • VeriCite makes it easy to identify and investigate possible plagiarism in the papers your students submit.
