        About Premier League

The English Premier League (EPL) is England’s top club league competition. The league in its current format was founded on February 20, 1992, and is composed of 20 teams that play 38 rounds to contest the title.

The bottom-placed three teams are relegated to the Football League Championship while three new clubs gain promotion. Wolverhampton, Cardiff City, and Fulham were promoted for the 2018-19 English Premier League campaign, replacing relegated clubs Swansea, Stoke City, and West Bromwich Albion.

Manchester City is the current title holder, after establishing a new record for most points (100) in a single Premier League season.

The 2018-19 EPL campaign runs from August 10, 2018, to May 12, 2019. The Premier League is in its 27th season, and clubs such as Arsenal, Chelsea, and Manchester City will try to cut the gap between them and Manchester United, the most successful club with 13 titles to its name.

Did you know? Gareth Barry is the footballer with the most EPL games under his belt, after playing 653 matches. In the goalscoring department, Alan Shearer is the league’s all-time top scorer with 260 goals to his name.

Welcome to Standard Sport ’s guide to the Premier League matches available online and on TV in Gameweek 36.

West Ham and Tottenham kick things off with a Friday night derby at London Stadium , handing Spurs the chance to cut Chelsea’s title lead to just a point before the Blues’ game in hand on Monday.

Crystal Palace fell to a disappointing 2-0 home defeat to Burnley last weekend, and Sam Allardyce’s side must pick themselves up for a tough trip to top four hopefuls Manchester City for Saturday’s early kick-off .

Palace’s relegation rivals Burnley, Hull and Swansea all play later in the day, so a result is needed to ease the Eagles’ fears.

Mourinho would love to shake hands with Wenger for one final time

There are two big matches at the other end of the table on Sunday, with third-placed Liverpool hosting Southampton before Manchester United travel to Arsenal , with defeat for either Jose Mourinho or Arsene Wenger likely to end their respective Champions League qualification hopes.

Last but not least, leaders Chelsea welcome Middlesbrough to Stamford Bridge on Monday night . Antonio Conte needs three victories from his last four games to win the title in his debut season in England, but relegation-threatened Boro are battling for every point – as shown by a creditable 2-2 draw with Man City last Sunday.
